http://www.forbes.com/pictures/fgdi45edlde/the-most-powerful-businesswomen-in-the-world/ Hey Team!
Thank you to everyone who came to the meeting on Tuesday! It was a blast to hear Su Hughes talk about entrepreneurship and how the TYE Seattle Start Up Lab is such a great opportunity for competitive business students looking to expand on their entrepreneurial interests. If you couldn't make the meeting or wanted to learn more about the program and how to get involved, please feel free to contact me and I can share Su's contact info with you so you can talk to her directly. For those of you who came, I passed out field trip forms for the Udub field trip that is coming up next month. This will be an AMAZING event so make sure you are there... the full details can be found on the Facebook event page's description. Let me know if you have any trouble finding this page. If you didn't get a field trip form yet but would like to attend, please let me know ASAP as I only have a certain amount of people I can take so the sooner you talk to me the higher your priority. Please turn your signed field trip form into me, Aashi Jhawar or our adviser, Mr. Shanafelt, by Monday, January 25th... It's essential that we get everyones' forms in a timely manner so we are able to proceed with further paper work. Also, if you need a field trip form, find me or Aashi Jhawar anytime during school and we will most likely have some on us. Mr. Shanafelt will also probably have some too, but if he doesn't, he will be able to direct you to me or Aashi. You can find Mr. Shanafelt in room 1603. Anyways, let me know if you have any questions. Looking forward to February's field trip to Udub and the theme of NETWORKING! Field Trip: University of Washington on Friday, February 12 from 9:30 am to 3:15 pm
Undergraduate Women in Business (UWiB) is a organization at the University of Washington that is a part of The Foster School of Business. The mission of UWiB is to strive towards advancing the continued progress of women in business through educating and encouraging their individual development as business professionals, and assist in the exploration of multiple career opportunities. UWiB seeks to promote greater awareness and understanding of ongoing issues and challenges that women presently face in business, while providing professional relationships with female business leaders for the undergraduate community. As UWiB and Issaquah Women in Business are very connected, I (Grace Chen) and the leaders of UWiB have planned a day where our two clubs will join together and network. The members of UWiB who are all young women in the Foster School of Business at UW, will give us a tour of the UW campus and have lunch with us. They have planned a presentation on "Selling Yourself" given by Ria Vaziralli who is a representative from the company FritoLay. Also, there will be a Q&A session that will take place between us and some members of UWiB so we can learn more about what it is like being a business student, if they like Foster, high school tips, and much more. We wil be leaving at 9:30 so you will still be able to attend 1st and 2nd period but will miss periods 3-6 as we won't get back until around 3:15. This will be an excused abcense but it would still be good to talk to your teachers before hand and outline exactly what you will be missing in class. To attend this field trip, it will cost $10. This is to cover the cost of transportation from Seattle and back and lunch, which will be provided (Jimmy Johns, MOD, or something like that - TBD). By RSVPing "Yes" to this event, you are saying that you do agree to pay this $10 fee for the field trip and you give WiB permission to charge it to your studennt account. This will work the same way as the visors and all you have to do is give me your permission and then the book keeper, Ms. Pfeifle, will charge your student account. From there, you can pay the book keeper in person at her window or pay online anytime convenient for you. If you need a field trip form, find me or Aashi Jhawar anytime during school and we will most likely have some on us. Mr. Shanafelt will also probably have some too, but if he doesn't, he will be able to direct you to me or Aashi. You can find Mr. Shanafelt in room 1603. ALSO, if you know anyone who might be interested in also attending this field but is not a member of WiB, please let me know and we can work something out! Anyone is welcome. More logistical details soon. Learn more about UWiB at: https://students.washington.edu/uwib/wordpress/ This is an amazing educational opportunity and I am looking forward to it. Full details on Facebook event page - please RSVP there as well. Thanks! Speaker: Susanne Hughes on Tuesday, January 12th at 3:00 pm in Room 1603
TYE Seattle, the local chapter of the TYE Global program, focuses on fostering entrepreneurship in youth and helps in discovering the rewards and challenges of becoming an entrepreneur. As part of the TYE educational program, students will participate in workshops led by local business leaders, culminating with participation in a Seattle Business Plan Competition. Susanne Hughes is a representative from the TYE Seattle Program that will talk about entrepreneurship and how to get involved with the TYE Program as this is fitting because January's theme is Entrepeneurship. From 2:20 to 2:45 we will have pizza. The speaker will arrive around 2:55 and we will start promptly at 3:00. Because we are having a guest speaker, to ensure we are respectful, please be on time and don't just walk in in the middle of her presentation. You all represent the Women in Business brand and we shall be a respectful audience. Full details on Facebook Event page - please RSVP there as well. If you have any friends that are not members of WiB but would still like to attend this presentation, please let me know and we can work something out! Contact Grace Chen with any questions. Thanks! Looking forward to it. ALSO, we will distributing the field trip permission forms for the February Udub Field trip at this meeting so it is very important that you come to this. However, if you really cannot make this meeting then please let me know and we will find another way to get it to you. Hey everyone! Hope you had a nice Winter Break.
