Field Trip: University of Washington on Friday, May 19th from 8:15 AM to 1 PM
Undergraduate Women in Business (UWiB) is a organization at the University of Washington that is a part of The Foster School of Business. The mission of UWiB is to strive towards advancing the continued progress of women in business through educating and encouraging their individual development as business professionals, and assist in the exploration of multiple career opportunities. UWiB seeks to promote greater awareness and understanding of ongoing issues and challenges that women presently face in business, while providing professional relationships with female business leaders for the undergraduate community.
Many of you may have attended the fall conference in November where we got a tour of the school, heard from a keynote speaker, and got assigned a mentor from the Foster School of Business. Since the fall conferences have always been a huge success, this year we are adding a Spring conference! The spring conference features a ton of cool, new events so even if you did already go in November, join us again this May! This is a tentative schedule for the Spring Conference:
-9:00-10:00 AM Networking Breakfast with UWiB
-10:00-11:00 AM Negotiations Workshop
-11:00-12:00 PM Resume Workshop OR Visit from Foster Professor--will keep you posted
ALSO, I am super excited to announce that recently, I have expanded WiB to multiple high schools beyond Issaquah High. So, at this conference, we might also be joined by other young women from Bothell and Edmonds Woodway!
We will be leaving at 8:15 AM and will get back to the school at around 1 PM. Students will be able to attend most of 1st period, miss 2nd-5th period, and be able to go to 6th period most likely. This will be an excused absence but it is encouraged to talk to your teachers ahead of time still.
To attend this field trip, it will cost $10. This is to cover the cost of transportation (from Seattle and back) and lunch, which will be provided (Jimmy Johns, MOD, or something like that - TBD).
By signing this field trip form, it is understood that you agree to pay the $10 fee for the field trip and you give WiB permission to charge it to your student‘s account. The ASB Bookkeeper, Ms. Pfeifle, will then charge the student account. From there, the student can pay the bookkeeper in person at her window or pay online anytime convenient for you.
More details can be found at womeninbusinessihs.weebly.com or on the Facebook Event Page. Please email Grace Chen at [email protected] with any questions. Thanks!
I look forward to this event and hope that your child will be able to join Women in Business in this amazing educational and networking opportunity.
Please return a signed field trip form by Wednesday, May 17th to myself (President) or Andrew Shanafelt (Adviser).
ALSO, if you know anyone who might be interested in also attending this field but is not a member of WiB, please let me know and we can work something out! Anyone is welcome.
