This year was awesome! We were able to achieve many of our goals including expanding WiB membership and partnering with many of IHS' other clubs. The UW Conference was the highlight of the year and I hope to continue this tradition.

During this meeting we played a fun game that went over several major topics regarding women in the workforce: the wage gap, educational achievement, female entrepreneurism, female management roles and representation, and the global representation of working women.
We also went over the logistics for our annual UW Conference! Feel free to contact us if you are interested in attending. Hi guys!
Our next meeting is on Thursday, November 15th from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. We will be picking up trash around the IHS campus with the resources provided by Issaquah High School's Green Team. In addition, this volunteer work will equate to one, NHS-sponsored community service hour. We will meet in Mr. Foley's classroom (RM #1307) at the beginning of the meeting. November's theme is philanthropy and a central part of business is giving back to our communities. Thus, we hope to see everyone there, ready to better Issaquah High School for its students, staff, and visitors! In the first meeting, we will discuss these google forms.
But to summarize: Membership form: Each member must submit this google form to be a member of Issaquah Women in Business. Essentially, we just ask for your name and contact information so you can be in the loop. We also ask that you give us permission to charge your student account a $5.00 club fee that will cover expenses of the WiB events (transportation, food, guest speaker gifts, etc.). You do NOT need to pay this fee now, but just before the end of the year. Once you complete this form, you will be approved to join the WiB Facebook page (joining is not required). LINK: https://goo.gl/forms/WGB70LDRu3vAOegC3 Board Application: The Secretary, Director of Communication, and Director of Fundraising spots are open for the Women in Business board. The application is a google form that will ask about your interest in being a board member and your past leadership experience. Please read the board member descriptions that will detail the responsibilities of each position (this document will be linked on the google form). Application deadline is November 1st. We will individually email the results on November 5th. LINK: https://goo.gl/forms/uF2An8DeAQ8cBecU2 Thank you! Hi guys!

Field Trip: University of Washington on Friday, May 19th from 8:15 AM to 1 PM Undergraduate Women in Business (UWiB) is a organization at the University of Washington that is a part of The Foster School of Business. The mission of UWiB is to strive towards advancing the continued progress of women in business through educating and encouraging their individual development as business professionals, and assist in the exploration of multiple career opportunities. UWiB seeks to promote greater awareness and understanding of ongoing issues and challenges that women presently face in business, while providing professional relationships with female business leaders for the undergraduate community. Many of you may have attended the fall conference in November where we got a tour of the school, heard from a keynote speaker, and got assigned a mentor from the Foster School of Business. Since the fall conferences have always been a huge success, this year we are adding a Spring conference! The spring conference features a ton of cool, new events so even if you did already go in November, join us again this May! This is a tentative schedule for the Spring Conference: -9:00-10:00 AM Networking Breakfast with UWiB -10:00-11:00 AM Negotiations Workshop -11:00-12:00 PM Resume Workshop OR Visit from Foster Professor--will keep you posted ALSO, I am super excited to announce that recently, I have expanded WiB to multiple high schools beyond Issaquah High. So, at this conference, we might also be joined by other young women from Bothell and Edmonds Woodway! We will be leaving at 8:15 AM and will get back to the school at around 1 PM. Students will be able to attend most of 1st period, miss 2nd-5th period, and be able to go to 6th period most likely. This will be an excused absence but it is encouraged to talk to your teachers ahead of time still. To attend this field trip, it will cost $10. This is to cover the cost of transportation (from Seattle and back) and lunch, which will be provided (Jimmy Johns, MOD, or something like that - TBD). By signing this field trip form, it is understood that you agree to pay the $10 fee for the field trip and you give WiB permission to charge it to your student‘s account. The ASB Bookkeeper, Ms. Pfeifle, will then charge the student account. From there, the student can pay the bookkeeper in person at her window or pay online anytime convenient for you. More details can be found at womeninbusinessihs.weebly.com or on the Facebook Event Page. Please email Grace Chen at [email protected] with any questions. Thanks! I look forward to this event and hope that your child will be able to join Women in Business in this amazing educational and networking opportunity. Please return a signed field trip form by Wednesday, May 17th to myself (President) or Andrew Shanafelt (Adviser). ALSO, if you know anyone who might be interested in also attending this field but is not a member of WiB, please let me know and we can work something out! Anyone is welcome.
