Hi all,
As you may have noticed, Women in Business has been quite inactive lately. And I apologize for that. This has been due to a variety of reasons including my own schedule. However, during this break we have built a new club plan that will make the club more fun and efficient.
To start off, because “business” is such a broad term, we want to split it up and zero in on the different parts of it. So, over the course of the year, each month will have it’s own theme, each being a different aspect of business. With this plan members will get to experience and learn about various sides of business. For example, the January theme will be Entrepreneurship.
Basically the premise of this new plan is that we will have meetings once a month. This monthly meeting will consist of either a guest speaker or an event/field trip. Each meeting will correlate with the month’s theme. For example, January will be entrepreneurship month and we intend to have a representative from the TiE Young Entrepreneurs Program come and speak to us about their unique program and opportunities.
Currently, the WiB Executive Team is working on the formal 2016 agenda for this club and it will be posted soon. This agenda will include the month themes, the speaker/event for that month, and the dates/times/location, etc. This will allow you to plan ahead and be able to rely on a consistent schedule for WiB.
We’re all sorry to spring this change on you but we believe it’s in the best interest for the club. With this plan we aim for the club to have real value and also be less of a time commitment.
We will be posting the finalized schedule by the end of Winter Break but just to give you an idea of the direction we are heading in, we will be having a field trip to UW on February 12 for the theme of Networking! More details on this trip to come but it’s going to be very fun so we hope to see you all there!
Thanks for being such great members these last few months and again I apologize for the hiatus.
Now, enjoy your break and be prepared to walk into the new year with a new WiB! (No meeting tomorrow)
Happy Holidays!
Sincerely,
Grace Chen
President and Founder
